Description
The lovely Georgia Peach🍑🐴 I met Georgia in the direct ship pen at auction. She stood quietly, mostly alone. She was very closed off, she could take or leave the affection. To me she just seemed numb. I quickly noticed her eye and could tell it was painful for her. She kept everyone on her left side, which told me she was already blind from the damage to her right eye. We came together as a passionate horse fam and raised the funds to help her. Once she was cleared health wise we had her painful eye removed. Some blind eyes don’t cause pain, but eyes like this ( with ulcers ) are very painful for them. Fast forward three weeks and Georgia’s personality is slowly blossoming. She now loves affection and comes to greet me in the pasture. She’s much more alert and perky. I feel you can see her change in these photos - first two we this last week, second two are at auction. This girl will make a lovely forever friend for a lucky family some day ♥️ We love you Georgia!
Georgia rapidly lost weight so we are working through that and getting her back on track and healthy. She's slowly gaining again now. Her eye removal is completely healed up. She's in the thick of her rehab days with us!
Update June 24, 2024:
We lost Georgia today.
She's been declining for weeks. Today we had plans to get her blood work ran, but noticed that she was more lethargic than normal. We brought her into the clinic, and they worked her up. She had a heart murmur which is most likely the reason for her losing weight in the summer heat. On top of that she had developed peritonitis (an infection in her small intestines) which caused her to colic and the infection spread outside of her intestines leaking pus into her abdomen. She had an impaction as well, and ultimately was in her best interest to lay her to rest peacefully since she couldn't undergo any sedation due to her heart murmur.
